Krav Maga may have been developed by Imi Lichtenfeld in the 1930's and 1940's and employed by Israel and their military when the country formed in 1948 - but we have absolution no connection with the IDF or any associated parties.
While in theory we support every nation's right to self-defence, we completely oppose the genocide that is happening right now, and the corrupt administration that is pursuing it.
We can only hope for a peace and restitution as soon as possible. Free Gaza!
Yes, we’re inclusive! We welcome adults of all backgrounds, especially women, LGBTQ+, and neurodivergent members, and uphold a strict code of conduct.
We have zero tolerance for discrimination, bullying, or harassment, and oppose all forms of bigotry.
We are queer and trans inclusive. We believe love is love. We believe trans women are women, trans men are men, enbies are enbies, and all gender expressions are valid. We completely reject the transmisian and homophobic narrative promoted by a vocal minority.
Absolutely—Krav Maga works! It has for Al and many students that he has taught.
Situations include verbal abuse, physical assaults, muggings, car jacking, threats of stabbings, stabbings, and even a (wild) home invasion. While success in avoiding or de-escalating, or using physical skills to handle conflict isn’t guaranteed, knowing Krav Maga will significantly improve your chances of handling physical or verbal confrontations positively.
You’ll train with a diverse, like-minded group in a friendly, supportive, and ego-free environment. Our members are polite, helpful, and focused on improving personal safety and self-defense skills together—we’re lucky to have an awesome group and don’t tolerate negativity!
Krav Maga is hands-on and contact-based but tightly controlled and scaled to each participant. While no activity is risk-free, injuries are rare, and we prioritize safe, progressive, and achievable training to keep members safe both in and out of class.
Adults classes are for 16 and up.
Teens - coming soon - will be 11-16 (secondary school ages).
Although Krav Maga IS a full-contact martial art, age is no barrier - we’ve had students in their 50s, 60s, and even 70s thriving in our classes. Everything we teach is adaptable, so you’ll always have options that work for you!
Not at all - and starting with us improves your fitness every session. Training might feel hard at first, but that’s normal; we train to get fitter, no prior fitness needed. Everyone works at their own pace, focusing on personal goals and capabilities—progress happens in its own time.
For your taster sessions, just bring gym clothes, a towel, and water. For longer term training you'll need a groin guard, mouth guard, shin protection, boxing gloves, and grappling gloves, plus insurance. We do offer a Complete Joining Kit deal that includes all off these, as well as a club t-shirt and focus mitts (saving around £55)!
Krav Maga is easy to learn and simple to perform, with members building a solid foundation in around 6 months when training at least twice a week.
While mastery takes a lifetime, regular training yields significant self-defense skills in 12-18 months, with continuous improvement with more time invested.
Yes, at Resilience, we follow the Krav Maga Global UK curriculum, ensuring coherent and organised training. Grades range from Practitioner Levels 1-5 to Graduate Levels 1-5 and Expert Levels 1-5, with members able to test and grade every 6-12+ months, depending on level.
