  • Am I too old?
Although Krav Maga IS a full-contact martial art, age is no barrier - we’ve had students in their 50s, 60s, and even 70s thriving in our classes. Everything we teach is adaptable, so you’ll always have options that work for you!
  • Are we inclusive?
Yes, we’re inclusive! We welcome adults of all backgrounds, especially LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent members, and uphold a strict code of conduct. We have zero tolerance for discrimination, bullying, or harassment, and oppose all forms of bigotry.
  • How long will it take me to learn?
Krav Maga is easy to learn and simple to perform, with members building a solid foundation in around 6 months when training at least twice a week. While mastery takes a lifetime, regular training yields significant self-defense skills in 12-18 months, with continuous improvement with more time invested.
  • How old do I need to be to start training?
Adults classes are for 16 and up. Teens - coming soon - will be 11-16 (secondary school ages).
  • What equipment do I need?
For your taster sessions, just bring gym clothes, a towel, and water. Then everything you need - club t-shirt, groin guard, mouth guard, shin protection, boxing gloves, grappling gloves, and focus pads - will be included in your joining fee.
  • Is the training safe?
Krav Maga is hands-on and contact-based but tightly controlled and scaled to each participant. While no activity is risk-free, injuries are rare, and we prioritize safe, progressive, and achievable training to keep members safe both in and out of class.
  • Who will I be training with?
You’ll train with a diverse, like-minded group in a friendly, supportive, and ego-free environment. Our members are polite, helpful, and focused on improving personal safety and self-defense skills together—we’re lucky to have an awesome group and don’t tolerate negativity!
  • Does Krav Maga work?
Absolutely—Krav Maga works! It has for Al and many students that he has taught. While success in avoiding or de-escalating conflict isn’t guaranteed, knowing Krav Maga will significantly improve your chances of handling physical or verbal confrontations positively.
  • Do I need to be fit to start training?
Not at all - and starting with us improves your fitness every session. Training might feel hard at first, but that’s normal; we train to get fitter, no prior fitness needed. Everyone works at their own pace, focusing on personal goals and capabilities—progress happens in its own time.
  • Do we have a grading system?
Yes, at Resilience, we follow the Krav Maga Global UK curriculum, ensuring coherent and organised training. Grades range from Practitioner Levels 1-5 to Graduate Levels 1-5 and Expert Levels 1-5, with members able to test and grade every 6-12+ months, depending on level.
